Tics and Tic Disorders

Tic disorders include Tourette Syndrome, chronic tic disorder, and provisional tic disorder. Tourette syndrome affects ~3-8 children per 1,000 and involves multiple motor or vocal tics that can range from mild to severe. At Scribble psychology, we employ methods from Comprehensive Behavioural Intervention for Tics (CBIT) to allow children and adolescents to manage their tics by learning competing behaviours to reduce the tics. CBIT has been shown to significantly reduce or eliminate tics in over 50% of participants in research studies.
